DIY Blue-and-White Polka Dots Skirt
Again, from Chictopia, I got an idea of what I would wear when I go to Singapore. I searched for the keyword "Singapore" and found a member from there. Mustard yellow was my apple-of-the-eye that time, and when I saw Ashes's outfit, I told myself, "This is what I'm going to wear in Singapore."
However, I didn't wear the outfit in Singapore because I decided to buy couple shirts for me and my boyfriend. I ended up wearing this skirt—my oeuvre and I'm proud of it—from Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, Philippines to the Low Cost Carrier Terminal-Malaysia and off to Kuala Lumpur.
I only failed to find at Divisoria a heart-designed garment, so I opted to use polka dots.
Enough with the intro and excuses. Here is how I made the skirt.
First, I laid flat my denim mini skirt as the pattern, giving each side an inch of allowance for the seam and the extra cellulites. HAHA.
Then, I asked Mom if I could use, for the lining, my old sleeping gown, which she gave to me as a birthday present few years ago. I seldom use it anyway. She said yes, but was being sentimental. Well, this was for a good cause so I carried on.After putting together both side ends, with the lining, I folded the edge first by 1/2 inch and next by 1 inch to to avoid ripping of the garment.
Then, the I attached the navy blue zipper on the left side.
And sewed the waistband, too. Finally, the hook and eye to lock the waistband.
Voila! I got a new skirt again!
And, here's my inspiration. Ladies and gentlemen, meet Ashes of Sleep walks Nine to Five. Thanks, Gurl.
